Central Ohio Crime Stoppers

HOW DO I SUBMIT A TIP?

Citizen involvement is the key to crime solving. With your participation, Crime Stoppers will continue to be an effective crime-fighting tool in central Ohio.

There are several ways to leave a tip:

If you call, give your information to the person answering the phone; they may need to ask you questions or give you instructions, but rest assured you will not be asked for your name. The more information we have, the better chance an arrest will result. Remember, Crime Stoppers only pays out rewards for the arrest and/or indictment of suspects involved in felony crimes.

REWARDS

HOW DO I REMAIN ANONYMOUS?

Crime Stoppers does not use Caller ID or record telephone conversations. We do not ask for your name, address, telephone number, etc. We would rather not know this information to not only protect you, but to protect the integrity of the Crime Stoppers organization. Instead, you will receive a Tipster ID number. This Tipster ID number is your name to us.

HOW DO I MAKE A DONATION TO THE TIP REWARD FUND?

Central Ohio Crime Stoppers, Inc. is a private, 501-(c)-3 nonprofit chartered organization. All donations are tax-deductible.

Donations can be made online, or mailed to Central Ohio Crime Stoppers, P. O. Box 16038, Columbus Ohio 43216-6038. If you have any questions regarding donations, please call the Crime Stoppers office at 614-645-4749, or via e-mail at  crimestoppers16038@gmail.com.

HOW DO I KNOW IF I AM ELIGIBLE FOR A REWARD?

Once you have given Crime Stoppers a tip, you may hear either on the news or on the street, that the person you called about got arrested, or the crime you called about was solved and an arrest was made. Please call Crime Stoppers to get an update on your tip information. Call Crime Stoppers, give them your Tipster ID number and ask for an update on your tip. We will be able to let you know if your information led to an arrest, or we will try to provide you with updated information from investigators.

MY TIP LED TO AN ARREST, HOW DO I RECEIVE MY REWARD?

The Central Ohio Crime Stoppers Board of Directors meets the first Wednesday of every month to go over solved crimes from the previous month. The Board of Directors determines the cash reward for each eligible tipster. Tipsters are asked to call Crime Stoppers after this time to receive payoff information such as the day, time, location, and amount. Tipsters do not need any other information other than their Tipster ID to receive the reward money.

SPONSORS

I HAVE A BUSINESS AND WOULD LIKE TO BECOME A CORPORATE SPONSOR. WHAT DOES THAT INVOLVE?

We are glad you asked that question!

First, please call our office at  614-645-4749 to find out when the next Crime Stoppers Board of Directors meeting is. We will also be able to answer any questions you have and to send you some materials in the mail. At the Board of Directors meeting, you will be able to meet representatives from other corporate sponsors and see first hand how law enforcement, the media, and the public work together to create the vital three-way link known as Crime Stoppers. There are different levels of sponsorship and we would be happy to discuss these levels in detail with you in person.
