Citizen involvement is the key to crime solving. With your participation, Crime Stoppers will continue to be an effective crime-fighting tool in Central Ohio.
Submitting Tips
How do I submit a tip?
There are several ways to leave a tip:
- Submit your tip online
- Call us at 614.461.8477 if you have witnessed a crime
- Download the free P3 Tips app for Apple or Android
If you call, give your information to the person answering the phone. They may ask questions or give instructions, but rest assured you will not be asked for your name. The more information we have, the better chance an arrest will result. Crime Stoppers only pays rewards for the arrest and/or indictment of suspects involved in felony crimes.
How do I remain anonymous?
Crime Stoppers does not use Caller ID or record telephone conversations. We do not ask for your name, address, or telephone number — we would rather not know this information, both to protect you and to protect the integrity of the organization. Instead, you will receive a Tipster ID number. This Tipster ID number is your name to us.
Rewards
How do I make a donation to the tip reward fund?
Central Ohio Crime Stoppers, Inc. is a private, 501(c)(3) nonprofit chartered organization, and all donations are tax-deductible. Donations can be made online, or mailed to Central Ohio Crime Stoppers, P.O. Box 16038, Columbus, Ohio 43216-6038. If you have questions about donations, email crimestoppers16038@gmail.com.
How do I know if I am eligible for a reward?
Once you have given Crime Stoppers a tip, you may hear — on the news or on the street — that the person you called about was arrested or the crime you reported was solved. Call Crime Stoppers, give your Tipster ID number, and ask for an update. We will let you know if your information led to an arrest, or provide updated information from investigators.
My tip led to an arrest — how do I receive my reward?
The Central Ohio Crime Stoppers Board of Directors meets the first Wednesday of every month to review solved crimes from the previous month and determine the cash reward for each eligible tipster. Call Crime Stoppers after that time to receive payoff information such as the day, time, location and amount. Tipsters need only their Tipster ID to receive the reward money.
Sponsors
I have a business and would like to become a corporate sponsor. What does that involve?
We are glad you asked! First, email us to find out when the next Crime Stoppers Board of Directors meeting is. We will answer your questions and send materials in the mail. At the meeting, you will meet representatives from other corporate sponsors and see firsthand how law enforcement, the media and the public work together to create the vital three-way link known as Crime Stoppers. There are different levels of sponsorship, and we would be happy to discuss them with you in person. Email crimestoppers16038@gmail.com to get started.
